ANNA NEVER
Anna Never
(b. 1980) grew up in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. After studying at the
Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, she moved her practice to a small studio in
Bologna. There, she spends most of her time with music in her ears, accompanied
by brushes and canvases.
Anna Never
paints fictive scenes that exist in an unidentified time and place. Transit
spaces, unfamiliar environments, figures dancing while everything burns. She
explores the threshold between shelter and ruin, between inside and outside,
between what is familiar and what remains unresolved. The characters she
portrays may appear silent, yet never defeated; rebellion and
self-determination are always present.
“I am
interested in things that may seem strange or disturbing to others, but that I
feel need to be shown and respected.”
– Anna Never
