During the summer, the gallery changes its name from ARTsight to RATsight!
From the end of June to the end of August, the gallery is indeed in the hands (paws ?) of a weird gang of eccentric rodents...
That's Gissella's Playful Bestiary!
Gissella Santini Ducommun was born in Colombia, where she trained as a ceramicist at Universidad de la Sabana in Bogotá. Alongside this, she took modeling courses at the Carmen Currea de Sicard school. In 1988, she came to Switzerland, where she continued her education at the Atelier Potter in Carouge—a workshop where she still works. Since then, she has exhibited continuously at galleries and fairs.
Gissella shapes delightful, poetic, or playful rodents out of black (sometimes red) clay, always with a slightly eccentric touch. Made from earthenware, sometimes with a few colorful accents added, and fired at 1170 degrees, the result is highly expressive thanks to the fine details in poses and facial expressions.
For her peculiar bestiary, Gissella draws inspiration from remembering the stories she read to her children when they were little. No wonder, then, that her rodents dress in coats, carry bouquets of wildflowers as if they had just returned from a walk—or even dress up as pandas.
Exibit runs from 27 of June to 23 of August.
